THEBBY – AN SA ICON

Thebby is probably the most loved medium size venue in Australia, particularly by contemporary music bands. With a capacity of 2000, it is used by young bands breaking into the concert circuit, established bands which like the intimacy of the venue rather than the cavernous stadium type venues, and by alternative bands which want to be right in the raw energy which exudes from a pumping dance crowd. The list of performers who have played Thebby is varied and extremely impressive.

After saving her from near demolition in 1980, Weslo Holdings Pty Ltd has managed Thebarton Theatre and built her into South Australia’s most iconic and most loved music venue. Plans are well in hand to refurbish this stunning Heritage building to its former glory as well as developing greater patron facilities.

We are incredibly proud to have been custodians of Thebarton Theatre for the past 39 years and we look forward to giving the venue an exciting future. The restoration took a huge leap of faith for us and we’re particularly proud to have maintained the heritage aspects of the building”- Bob Lott (Co-Director).

It’s a family affair of two bloodlines; the Lott and the Robertson families, with all members of the family working at the venue from one time or another.

Thebby, as she is affectionately known, holds a place deep in the hearts of many and is hailed as a favourite Australian venue to perform in by many artists, and this theatre is in our blood. We’ve seen generations of staff work with us and their loyalty is cherished by us all, we’ve had bands from all over the world and at various levels of their careers play on our stage and it’s exhilarating to be a part of their journey.” Robbie Robertson (Co-Director).

You feel when you walk into the venue that it’s looked after and loved”
